Adults often have difficulty imagining that children and teenagers can have mental health needs. However, young people are susceptible to many of the same mental health challenges which adults face. Common issues which often lead to pursuing psychotherapy for children and teenagers may include (but are not limited to):
Family or life transitions
Bullying (being on the receiving end of bullying or instigating bullying toward others)
Learning challenges/failure to achieve at a level which would be expected given a child's intelligence
Coping with developmental disorders or living with a loved one who has a developmental disorder
Adjusting to an acquired disability in oneself or others
Uncertainty about one's identity
Heather will work one-to-one with children and teenagers to help them work through whatever challenges they may be facing, in a non-judgemental environment.
